Turtle Trial Update 3.0 - Bite Back


This is the release of the combat update otherwise known as the "Bite Back Update". There is so much more to re-discover with this update so get out there and beat the "Lost Ocean Path" trial and claim the king of the sea. Available on Itch.io, Xbox and windows 10 Store for free. Added.

• Tips added to loading screen for guidance.
• Bite attack ability.
• Rock borders added for outside game-play area.
• Damage/health system for enemies.
• Crafting UI and crafting system.
• Food-balls can be crafted and consumed for different effects.
• Crafting upgrades in the skill tree.
• Three new upgrades added to the survival, explore and home skill trees.
• New objectives and a notification will pop up when objectives are complete.
• Update screen is now in the game and is accessible through the main menu.
• Fear system & Poison system.
• Moray Eels now lay wait in the “Current Canyon” biome.
• Stone-fish now roam the “Coral Reef” and contain poison and a random fish resource.
• Objectives now provide skill points rewards on completion.
• Boss area and boss fight implemented.
• Electric eels now roam the “Coral Reef” biome with a deadly spark.
• Watch out for a shoal of piranha swimming in the “Coral Reef”.
• Each zone in the game has its own music ambience.
• “Lore Logs” now have an audio that can be listened to instead of reading.
• Audio volumes have been changed for specific sounds to be clearer or quieter.
• New sound effects to the environment and aquatic wildlife.
• When you are under the effects of starvation, fear or poison, the player HUD will reflect the effects as a visual cue to the player. • Diagonal movement, better late than never.
• Secrets added.

Change.

• Compass now has numbers indicating directions more accurately.
• Lore markers size has been increased slightly.
• Lore log no longer opens the log screen when collecting lore in the world.
• When the “Empty Stomach” upgrade is bought the hunger bar will replenish to full.
• Sea ambience sound has been lowered.
• Combat music now only plays at more dangerous threats and situations. (mark)
• sharks now have a splashing sound played at the correct time when chasing the player.
• Camera has been moved back to give the player more expanded view.
• Crabs and seashells on islands spawn with more rotation variation.
• Storage upgrades has been lowered slightly.
• Night is creepier. It is almost like something is watching you.
• Design changes to the skill screen UI and objective screen UI.
• Re-balanced unlock order of upgrades and requirement cost.
• Culling distance for enemies increases.
• Brightness of water is increased
• Lower the strength of the “Hardened shell” upgrade
• Re-positioning and size reduction of bubble particles on enemies and fish.
• Vents in the “Current Canyon” biome have been removed.
• “Current Canyon” biome has a rock texture base.
• Speed of fish lowered.
• Predators do more damage.
• Orca enemy sprite and animations replaced with a new orca animation and sprite.
• One juvenile orca now patrols the “Deep Sea” instead of multiple.
• Enclosure upgrades spawn resource chance has increased and now a resource can spawn every 2 minutes. Free food when the enclosure is unlocked has been removed.
• Scrooge Redemption level is locked temporarily until a later date.
• Islands in “Deep Sea” biome re-positioned.
• “Deep Sea” biome rock passage section added.
• Orca health reduced.
• More random size variation and visibility to squid in “Deep Sea” biome.
• Ocean texture is smaller and slowed.
• Hammerhead sharks in the “Coral Reef” biome have been reduced.
• When you die the biome text on left no longer says the last biome you were in.
• Audio spatial blend is now 3D instead of 2D to give a more accurate sound.
• New sound effects and a re-designed sound manager.
• Island sand in the “Deep Sea” biome is a darker shade of yellow.
• Lore Log 9 and one of the islands in the “Deep Sea” biome have been moved.
• Combat music will no longer play in the “Deep Sea” biome.
• Text on the skill upgrades information will now save what was last viewed.
• Chance of stunning an enemy with the stun defence upgrade has been reduced.
• Audio volume has been re-balanced.
• More rocks in the “Deep Sea” biome to help shake off enemies.
• Objectives now have short descriptions.
• Keyboard and controller mapping have changed for the new actions the player can do.
• Reduced spawn point locations for crabs on islands.
• Rather then dying instantly when your hunger meter hit zero, there will be a brief period of starvation in which health will be lost quickly but giving just enough time to eat.
• Entering the afterlife will set resources to zero instead of when the player revives.
• Slight increase in graphic quality.

Fixed.

• Lore markers not showing on Mini-Map.
• Some text on the UI flickering.
• Island beacon icon does not set home when the player died.
• Level loading percentage was not rounded up to whole numbers.
• Closing lore screen opens the player manager after collecting a lore log.
• When the player died, they will appear under the home island.
• Sleep UI button did not trigger correctly to skip the night.
• Sleep UI button would sometimes be active when not bought.
• Biome colour tint would be above the islands instead of below.
• Music restarting when new enemy enter detection range.
• Exchanging resources for skill points would give more points than intended.
• Upgrades were locked even after acquiring the necessary points needed to unlock them when reloading a saved game.
• “Unlock all skills” objective not tracking correctly.
• Large hammerhead shark splash sound occasionally causing a crash.
• Rocks sometimes block passages in the current canyon biome.
• Lore logs not found when reloading a game after a specific log is found causing crashes.
• Rocks and other objects that are not rendered outside the players vision slowly moving.
• Sharks occasionally going through rocks in the deep-sea biome.
• Teleport not locking and save button in the pause not locking when dead.
• Occupational popping under an island after exiting another island at proximity.
• Main menu objects reloading every time an UI screen is re-opened in the main menu.
• Delete “Save” button now do not have to be click on the side of the button to work.
• Reserved boost upgrade freezing movement when ending effect on land.
